Your Rights
Patient Rights & Responsibilities
At Promise Medical Centre, every patient deserves care delivered with dignity, honesty, and respect. These rights are not a courtesy — they are your guarantee.
Effective: January 2024 · Applies to all PMC locations
Your Rights as Our Patient
These rights apply to every person who receives care at either of our locations, regardless of payment method, HMO status, or background.
Right to Dignified Care
You have the right to considerate, respectful care that recognises your personal dignity, cultural background, and individual needs at all times.
Right to Information
You have the right to receive complete, clear information about your diagnosis, treatment options, and expected outcomes in language you can understand. You may request an interpreter at any time.
Right to Informed Consent
No procedure will be performed without your voluntary, informed consent. You will be told what is being done, why, and what alternatives exist before you agree.
Right to Refuse Treatment
You have the right to refuse any treatment or procedure. If you do, our team will explain the medical consequences and explore alternative care options with you.
Right to Privacy & Confidentiality
Your medical records and personal information are confidential. They will only be shared with those directly involved in your care unless you give written permission otherwise.
Right to Itemised Billing
You have the right to a clear, detailed explanation of all charges. If you have questions about your bill, our staff will explain every item.
Right to a Second Opinion
You may seek a second medical opinion at any time. We will provide your medical records and support you through that process.
Right to Make a Complaint
If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of your care, you have the right to raise a complaint without fear of reprisal. We will investigate and respond promptly.
Right to Safety
You have the right to receive care in a safe, hygienic environment, and to be protected from any form of abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
Right to Choose Your Visitors
You may refuse visitors at any time. Your care team will respect your decision without requiring an explanation.
Your Responsibilities
Good healthcare is a partnership. We ask every patient to uphold these responsibilities so we can deliver the best possible care for everyone.
Provide Accurate Information
Give our team complete and honest information about your health history, symptoms, medications, and allergies so we can provide the safest care.
Follow Your Treatment Plan
Cooperate with the treatment plan agreed with your doctor. If you cannot follow it, please tell us — we will work with you to find an alternative.
Keep Your Appointments
Attend scheduled appointments and notify us as early as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule, so another patient can take that slot.
Respect Our Staff
Treat all PMC staff with courtesy and respect. Verbal abuse, threats, or violence will not be tolerated and may result in your care being discontinued.
Respect Other Patients
Be considerate of other patients' privacy, rest, and recovery. Avoid noise and behaviour that may disturb others in the facility.
Settle Your Bills
Arrange payment for your care promptly. If you are experiencing financial difficulty, speak with our administrative team — we will do our best to assist.
Follow Facility Rules
Observe all hospital policies, including visiting hours, no-smoking rules, and infection-control guidelines, for the safety of all patients and staff.
How to Raise a Complaint
If something goes wrong or you feel your rights have not been respected, please speak to any member of our staff, visit our front desk, or contact us directly. All complaints are taken seriously and investigated fairly.
